Your Hearing Consultation
Your consultation
Our ‘client-centered’ hearing care approach puts you and your hearing at the heart of our conversation. Our three simple steps below outline the appointment process and how best we aim to help you.
1. Listening
It isn’t about us; when you visit our Practice, we create a relaxed friendly environment to discuss your hearing concerns. We will ask you a handful of medical, general health and hearing related questions before exploring in detail how you feel your hearing loss is impacting on your lifestyle and social interactions; for example listening to TV or in background noise.
You are welcome to bring in a family member or friend into your consultation. They may also be able to share additional insight into your hearing issues, what you are missing and how they feel it could be affecting you.
2. Assessment
A physical examination of your ear canals and ear drums using a high quality video camera will be made to assess for ear wax and to check for any ear abnormalities. We will show you your ear health on a large flat screen and will discuss and findings.
Your hearing will then be tested to current British Society of Audiology recommended procedures and we may perform additional tests if there is a clinical requirement.
We are duty bound to refer you back to your GP if there are any areas of concern.
3. Advice
We pride ourselves on giving you correct, professional & unbiased advice. Your visit with us must be informative so that you understand what can help you now or may help you into the future.
As with many clients, simply having their hearing tested can provide reassurance that there is no underlying problem or that a listening issue is formally identified which may have been causing a few difficulties over time.
Together, we work out and agree what the next step should be after discussion with family members at home.
